Frequently Asked Questions

How do you bill for your services?

Our standard billing procedure is to bill monthly. We require payment upon receipt. All standard forms of payment are accepted including credit cards.

You’re looking to schedule an appointment with us. We see clients by appointment only and our availability is based on our current schedule.

If you’d like to book a time, please give us a call or send us an email. We’ll be happy to find a time that works for you.

If you are audited by the IRS, our role is to represent you. We can act on your behalf through a power of attorney relationship, which authorizes us to communicate with the IRS, provide them with necessary documentation, and negotiate a resolution for you. This means that we handle the entire process, so you don’t have to deal with the IRS directly.

The amount and kind of preparation needed to complete your tax return depends entirely on your specific financial situation. The more complex your life and finances are, the more information we’ll need.

Here is a general breakdown of the documents you should gather:

Personal Information:

  • Your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
  • Your spouse’s full name, SSN/ITIN, and date of birth
  • Names, dates of birth, and SSNs/ITINs for all dependents
  • A copy of your previous year’s tax return (if you are a new client)
  • Your bank account and routing number for direct deposit of any refund

Sources of Income (You may not have all of these):

  • W-2 Forms for wages, salaries, and tips
  • 1099 Forms for various types of income, such as:
    • 1099-NEC for non-employee compensation (freelance/contractor work)
    • 1099-INT for interest income from banks
    • 1099-DIV for dividend income
    • 1099-G for unemployment benefits or state tax refunds
    • 1099-R for retirement income (pensions, IRAs, annuities)
    • 1099-K for payments from third-party payment networks (e.g., PayPal, Venmo, etc.)
  • SSA-1099 for Social Security benefits
  • K-1 Statements from partnerships, S corporations, or trusts
  • Records of any other income, such as from self-employment, rental properties, gambling winnings, or hobby income

Deductions and Credits (If you plan to itemize):

  • 1098 Forms for mortgage interest, student loan interest, and other tax-related information
  • Records of real estate and personal property taxes paid
  • Receipts for charitable donations (cash and non-cash)
  • Records of medical and dental expenses
  • Information on educational expenses (Form 1098-T)
  • Records of expenses for a business or rental property

For Self-Employed Individuals:

  • A summary of your business income and expenses (a profit and loss statement is ideal)
  • Records of all business expenses (receipts, check registers, credit card statements)
  • Mileage logs for business use of a vehicle
  • Information on business assets for depreciation purposes

The more organized you are, the faster and more accurately we can complete your return. It’s often helpful to put all your documents in a single folder or digital file before your appointment.
